And honestly, some of them might look cool,

But they don’t always perform that well.

Here are my personal favorites for beginners learning fades.

Best Beginner Hair Clipper for Fades: JRL 2020c

The JRL 2020cs do great on debulking thick coarse hair.

And I really love that the motor doesn’t overpower the blade to where it cuts too much hair off if you’re trying to detail. 

Plus it has a slower speed switch, which makes it great for beginners who want to work slow and detailed.

Best Beginner Hair Trimmer for Fades: Wahl Align Trimmer

The Wahl Align Trimmer is small but strong. 

It doesn’t cut as sharp but it’s great for beginners because it still gives you nice defined lines. 

Also, if you have a heavy hand, you won’t have to worry about cutting someone with these trimmers.
